A Walk in the Golden Mount: Wat Phu Khao Thong

A Walk in the Golden Mount:

If you are someone like me who enjoys wandering to places with a rich past, then Ayutthaya is the place to go. The palaces, the ruined temples are a must see in Thailand.

But I suggest that if  you want to go there you should book a day tour to Ayutthaya for a better introduction of the place, the locals know better than we do right?. Ours we book a day tour in Mama Travel & Tours located on Khao San Road it was about 500 baht per person and it includes a free lunch.

Ayutthaya is a 1 hour and 20 min. bus drive from Bangkok, we woke up at around 5:00 am and waited at Khao San Road for our tour bus. The tour was packed with 60 tourists including me and my travel buddy and 4 buses to take us to the province. It was fun getting along with other nationalities.  So, here is the 1st of the 4 parts of my Ayutthaya Adventure
After feels like a ride in Disneyland the bus gradually stopped at what seems to be our first site to visit. I stepped out of the bus and I gaped at the sight of what looks like a high fortress from a faraway land. The entire place is totally immense!!! It makes me wonder what life's like there before, what it looks like before, this and that. That's just me, I am constantly fascinated with ancient events and a way of life, probably because when I was a child I always dream of becoming an archaeologist.

Wat Phu Khao Thong or the the Golden Mount was built by King Ramesuan in 1395.
Among the best attraction is the Chedi Phukao Thong where visitors can climb as far as they can and from there  they can see the entire place other attractions of the place include the pagodas and monasteries.

Fact:

Ayutthaya Kingdom - Cradle of the Past

Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province is situated in the central part of Thailand and it used to be Thailand's capital. Established by King U-thong in 1350, it was in this era that it was considered as the period of Ayutthaya kingdom where trade and politics flourish for over decades, ruled by 33 kings from 5 dynasties. However, in 1767 it was attacked and burned to the ground by the Burmese that led to the fall of the Ayutthaya Kingdom.
Presently, what remains of the Ayutthaya is now known today as an archaeological site or Ayutthaya's Historical Park and a part of it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

That's it everyone. If you ask what I feel exploring the place? The quote By Eugene O'Neill says it all. =)

"For a moment I lost myself, actually lost my life. I was set free! I belonged, without past or future, within peace and unity and a wild joy, within something greater than my own life - To Life itself. I caught a glimpse of something greater than myself."

Life Worthy Knowledge I learned from Blogging

7:32 PM Nana Jover 12 Comments

A blogger's life is never easy, it's not just an ambitious girl sitting in front of her computer, clicking on the keyboard and exposing her musings, rants and inner turmoils to cyberspace. It's more than that, because we are not only giving the world access to our angts but we are also giving the world instant access to who we are, what we are and the life we are living and leading.

Maybe some of you may say that "why waste time? we are not really intrested with how you live your life or what you are about to say" True enough, I may not be considered as one those super successful bloggers in terms of fame. I must admit there are countless times that I wanted to quit but then again I would  recount on the reasons why I started blogging in the first place and the things I have gained from the past 2 years and a half - that gives me the dynamism to continue.

Becoming a blogger was not included in my plan in fact the word "Blogger" was a foreign word to me 2 years and half back, but out of curiosity and  inspired by all the lovely people from Chictopia I started my own, and through the years my blog changed me. The blogosphere became my virtual mentor, my blog became my virtual frenemy. A very challenging strict disciplanarian, frenemy and teacher. I have learned life worthy skills and knowledge that I can not only employ on my blogging career but on my everyday life as well.

A Taste of Bangkok - Street Foods

4:25 PM Nana Jover 5 Comments

It was a 3 hour flight from the Philippines to Bangkok. It was rather exhausting but I am glad when the plane finally landed at Suvarnabhumi Airport. In my head I am singing Hello Thailand over and ever again hahhaha. The following day I woke up early and jump off the bed, I'm ready for my first day adventure in Bangkok!

Bangkok is the Capital city of Thailand ,derived in 2 Thai words, Bang which means a village situated on a stream because of its tactical location near the river and Ko which means Island but is it also known as  Krung Thep Maha Nakhon in Thai which means City of Angels.

The First thing I notice are the street food vendors.  You can see them everywhere. I was gushing how affordable the foods are , seriously, it's so cheap. My mom was right, I could go food hoarding in Thailand even if you are financially constraint. you will never go hungry.

Word of advice #1: you can always find amazing street foods outside the hospitals, Schools and Shopping Centers
Word of advice #2: The Thais love spicy food. So expect it to be well... spicy. But you can still choose from Spicy, Semi Spicy or Extremely Spicy. hahaha

A Must Try Street Foods
1. Thai Barbecue - Price Ranges from 15-30 Baht
2. Sticky Mango Rice - My Favorite! a combination of Mango, Coconut Milk and Sticky Rice. Price Ranges from 30-50 Baht
1. Pad Thai - A stir fried rice noodles Price Ranges from 20-30 Baht
2. Fried Tofo- Price 20 Baht
1. Green Tea Frappe -Being a green tea lover this is heaven!! Price 20 Baht. But you should also try their traditional Thai Milk Tea
2. Lava Cream Pao- made with custard cream and salted egg

and last but not the least if you are brave enough.. Then brace yourself and have a taste of Thailand's exotic.. I mean really exotic food.
You can take your pick from fried tarantulas to Crickets, Black scorpions, water bugs, maggots etc.  Price about 50 Baht per cup.

And nah! I pass on this one hahahaha

Nana Travels

3:26 PM Nana Jover 4 Comments

Hello Everyone I wanted to let you know I have another new blog Nana Travels I wanted to maintain this blog A Not So Secret Life as it was, and that is a blog that  discourses on  fashion and other style related bits and pieces alone.  This morning as I was about to draft my travel post from my thailand adventure I kinda stop and contemplate for awhile.

Maybe some of you would disagree but for me I feel like If I add a new category on my blog it will be confusing and messy. Having to compose  travel post and then outfit posts. I mean geezzz Incorporating this two categotries  will totally lose the quintessence of my blog.

So, therefore ladies and gents  here I am wandering on the other side of the blogging world and hence the birth of this new travel blog,  but hey I've added my Travel blog and the other way around on the page bar above in case you wanted to check it out ahhhhhhhhh feel free to do so. (wink)

As I was saying this blog will talk about my adventures and wanderlust. I guess all of us desires to travel, to wander, to experience new things from new places. We all have that itch to pack our bags and maybe catch a plane to a place we really dreamed to go. Uurrg!!! if only travelling is free you will not see me idling in one place. Nevertheless, I wish I could teleport from one place to another just like David Rice from the movie Jumper. I'll probably be sitting on top of an Egyptian Pyramid watching the sunset. Isn't it cool?

So I really hope and pray you will support my travel blog too. I've added bloglovin on the side bar in case you wanted to follow it =)

Buy The Ticket Take The Ride

3:07 PM Nana Jover 1 Comments

I kept tapping my fingers on the glass table while the monitor screen is frolicking on my eyes. A part of me is screaming "Buy the ticket! Buy the ticket!" but a part of me is having all these dissents. This is my chance to fulfill my lifelong dream, to travel outside the Philippines and to check off the #2 spot on my travel bucket list.

Cebu Pacific is having their Bangkok promo sale and by God's grace I have the funds to pay for it. So what is holding me back? it's the #1 spot on my travel list - Japan.. I am completely eyeing it, it's my ultimate dream destination.  But getting there is a little tricky but I am not losing the hope of getting there someday and it's another  reason why I am saving my entire funds for it,  if I am going to use it now will I be able to come up with enough resources to fund it soon? I flip through the pages of my Belle De Jour planner and the words I scribble there months ago smack me right on my face. "Dreams will remain a dream forever unless you do something about it." If  I am not going to take this ride now then when? So I skip #1 and proceed to #2 first and that is exactly what I did.

5 Secret Facts About Me (Part 1)

2:33 PM Nana Jover 12 Comments

Some people may think that I am very reserved. Partially true, I think there are just about things that I am not comfortable being transparent, especially if it’s close to sharing personal tidbits. I can be very open and vocal, but only  to people who are very close to me, although there are circumstances that I would rather keep my predicaments to myself.

But a few days back, I was contemplating about adding a zing to my blog by adding the Journal category wherein I will be sharing some of my deepest thoughts and a modest bit of me hahaha I guess that’s what being a personal blogger is to share a part of yourself to the world. So, to start it off, here are the first
