A Walk in the Golden Mount: Wat Phu Khao Thong

A Walk in the Golden Mount:

If you are someone like me who enjoys wandering to places with a rich past, then Ayutthaya is the place to go. The palaces, the ruined temples are a must see in Thailand.

But I suggest that if  you want to go there you should book a day tour to Ayutthaya for a better introduction of the place, the locals know better than we do right?. Ours we book a day tour in Mama Travel & Tours located on Khao San Road it was about 500 baht per person and it includes a free lunch.

Ayutthaya is a 1 hour and 20 min. bus drive from Bangkok, we woke up at around 5:00 am and waited at Khao San Road for our tour bus. The tour was packed with 60 tourists including me and my travel buddy and 4 buses to take us to the province. It was fun getting along with other nationalities.  So, here is the 1st of the 4 parts of my Ayutthaya Adventure
After feels like a ride in Disneyland the bus gradually stopped at what seems to be our first site to visit. I stepped out of the bus and I gaped at the sight of what looks like a high fortress from a faraway land. The entire place is totally immense!!! It makes me wonder what life's like there before, what it looks like before, this and that. That's just me, I am constantly fascinated with ancient events and a way of life, probably because when I was a child I always dream of becoming an archaeologist.

Wat Phu Khao Thong or the the Golden Mount was built by King Ramesuan in 1395.
Among the best attraction is the Chedi Phukao Thong where visitors can climb as far as they can and from there  they can see the entire place other attractions of the place include the pagodas and monasteries.

Fact:

Ayutthaya Kingdom - Cradle of the Past

Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province is situated in the central part of Thailand and it used to be Thailand's capital. Established by King U-thong in 1350, it was in this era that it was considered as the period of Ayutthaya kingdom where trade and politics flourish for over decades, ruled by 33 kings from 5 dynasties. However, in 1767 it was attacked and burned to the ground by the Burmese that led to the fall of the Ayutthaya Kingdom.
Presently, what remains of the Ayutthaya is now known today as an archaeological site or Ayutthaya's Historical Park and a part of it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

That's it everyone. If you ask what I feel exploring the place? The quote By Eugene O'Neill says it all. =)

"For a moment I lost myself, actually lost my life. I was set free! I belonged, without past or future, within peace and unity and a wild joy, within something greater than my own life - To Life itself. I caught a glimpse of something greater than myself."
